Overview
Forex View ("us", "we", or "our") operates the ForexView mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and processing your data in accordance with the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 (DPPA) and other applicable regulations.
1. Data Controller

2. Definitions
Personal Data: Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person ('data subject'). Processing: Any operation performed on Personal Data, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation, retrieval, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination, or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction. Data Subject: You, the individual using our Service. Data Controller: The entity which determines the purposes and means of the Processing of Personal Data (in this case, ForexView).
3. Information We Collect and How We Collect It
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. (a) Data You Provide Directly: Account Information: If account creation is required, we may collect your email address, username, and password. Contact Information: If you contact us for support or inquiries, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. Preferences: We may collect information about your preferences within the app, such as favorite currency pairs or notification settings, to personalize your experience. (b) Data Collected Automatically: Usage Data: We automatically collect information on how the Service is accessed and used. This Usage Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, the features of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those features, crash reports, and other diagnostic data. Device Information: We collect information about the mobile device you use to access the Service, including the hardware model, operating system and version, and mobile network information. Cookies and Similar Technologies: While less common in mobile apps than websites, if we use similar tracking technologies (like SDKs - Software Development Kits) for analytics or functionality, we will specify them here. (c) Data We Do NOT Collect: We do not collect sensitive financial information like bank account details, credit card numbers, or brokerage account information, as Forex View is an informational app, not a trading platform.
4. How We Use Your Information
ForexView uses the collected data for various purposes: To provide, operate, and maintain our Service. To manage your account (if applicable) and provide customer support. To personalize your experience based on your preferences. To monitor the usage of our Service and detect, prevent, and address technical issues. To analyze usage patterns to improve the Service's features, performance, and usability. To notify you about changes to our Service or policies (including this Privacy Policy). To comply with legal obligations.
5. Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data (Under DPPA)
We process your Personal Data based on the following legal grounds: Consent: Where you have given clear consent for us to process your Personal Data for a specific purpose (e.g., optional feature preferences). Performance of Contract: To provide the Service you have requested, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions. Legitimate Interests: For purposes like improving our Service, analytics, and security, provided these interests are not overridden by your data protection rights. Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations in Uganda.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share your information only in the following circumstances: With Service Providers: We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), such as cloud hosting (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase), and customer support tools. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. 7. International Data Transfers
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of Uganda where the data protection laws may differ. We use third-party services (like cloud hosting or analytics) that might process data internationally. If we transfer your data outside Uganda, we will take steps to ensure that your Personal Data receives an adequate level of protection, for instance, by using Standard Contractual Clauses or relying on the service provider's compliance with recognized frameworks, or ensuring the destination country is deemed adequate by Ugandan authorities.
8. Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.
10. Your Data Protection Rights under the DPPA (Uganda)
As a data subject in Uganda, you have certain rights regarding your Personal Data: Right of Access: You have the right to request copies of your Personal Data that we hold. Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete. Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your Personal Data, under certain conditions. Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your Personal Data, under certain conditions. Right to Object to Processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data, under certain conditions, particularly where processing is based on legitimate interests. Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions. Right to Withdraw Consent: If we are processing your data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
11. How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the contact details provided in Section 14. We may need to verify your identity before responding to your request. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe, generally within one month, as required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Office of Uganda if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.
12. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted.
